What to Confirm Before You Book a Hood County Pumper
A short phone call can save you from a surprise invoice or a visit that leaves the most important parts of the system unchecked. Ask these questions before you agree to a date.
- Tank size in gallons. Check the permit, the installer's paperwork or the lid if you can find one, because a 1,000 gallon tank and a larger one are priced differently.
- Conventional tank or aerobic system. Aerobic units have moving parts and usually need a yearly maintenance contract on top of pumping.
- Whether locating and uncovering the lid is included. Buried lids often add a separate charge.
- Weekend or after hours fees. Only some companies in the county list Saturday hours, and a Saturday callout can carry an extra fee.
- What gets inspected, not only pumped. Ask whether the crew checks the baffles, outlet, effluent filter and pump chamber if one is installed.
- Who regulates the work. Texas regulates on-site sewage facilities through TCEQ, so ask the company to explain the rules that apply to its work and to your system.
